This innovation is particularly interesting for customers where the alignment of their objects is crucial, e.g. for pick and place applications.

Rotated bounding boxes extend the classic bounding box technology. In addition to position and size, an additional parameter, the angle of rotation, is added. (Can be found in the DENK VISION AI Hub on the left in the object list).

Purpose:

The advantage of this method lies in the detection of object orientations. Unlike keypoint-based systems, rotated bounding boxes do not require any additional intermediate steps to determine the direction. This makes the determination of rotations and application much more convenient.

The boxes with the appropriate alignment enable precise detection of objects that are not uniformly aligned horizontally or vertically.

Areas of application e.g:

- Traffic analysis: Detection of the direction of travel of vehicles.
- Industrial automation: Positioning and alignment of workpieces in production lines.

Other AI companies had difficulties with this: Tyre data codes on the tyre sidewalls.

We were called in because there was a difficulty with the automated recognition of tyre markings. In particular: the TIN markings. We ran our DENK-OCR (technology for text and character recognition) over the tyre images and the result was that our technology performed immediately!
